Jointly created by Saint Joseph University and the Association of Insurance Companies in Lebanon (ACAL), the Center for Insurance Studies (CEA) was established in 1977 and was based on the Huvelin Street Campus, now the Social Sciences Campus.
Initially, its courses were reserved for employees of insurance companies. However, over time, they became accessible to non-professional students aspiring to enter the field.
In October 2000, the CEA was replaced by the Institut Supérieur des Sciences de l’Assurance (ISSA), an institution fully integrated into the University, with diplomas issued under its name. ACAL continued to be represented on both the Institute’s Council and its Advisory Board.
